Atlanta Newborn Photographer

Every once in a while, as an Atlanta newborn photographer, I get the joy of photographing my friends newest additions. I met Crew’s sweet mama at our elementary school’s open house 2 years ago.  We had moved here about 3 weeks earlier, and knew noone.  Our oldest sons, 2nd graders at the time, were in the same class.  We also both have another younger son, and a daughter, all around the same ages.  I was so excited when I booked Crew’s session. It’s so much fun for me to get to capture my friends families.

When is the Best time for your newborn session

Baby Crew came to see me for his Atlanta newborn photographer session when he was right at 10 days new.  I generally try to get clients in to see me between 5-14 days of life.  If it needs to be a little later than 14 days, it’s not an issue at all.  Babies are the most sleepy, bendy, and usually don’t have baby acne yet, under 14 days old.

What to expect at your session

Most of my newborn sessions last 2-3 hours.  If you have other children, and want sibling shots with them, or parent shots, I typically do that at the start of the session.  After the sibling shots are finished, it’s a great idea to have dad or grandma take big brother/sister to do something fun.  This helps allow the older children to feel special, and helps keep the studio space calm and quiet for the baby part of the session.  Prior to your session, I will email you a parent prep letter.  In the letter, it suggests that you keep your baby awake for 2 hrs prior to the session.  I know what you’re thinking…newborn babies sleep ALL the time..why would I do that!  Well..I will tell you.  Newborn babies DO sleep a lot. But they are not generally used to people taking their clothes off, fussing with their hands, and putting them into different positions while they sleep!  So, in order to have your baby sleepy enough to not be bothered by the flow of the session, it’s best to keep them up for an hour or so prior to the session.

Should I bring anything to my session

The short answer to this is no, you should not.   I have everything we need.  I have parents bring food for baby, a pacifier, and the baby. That is all. If you have a very special outfit or blanket, that is fine and I will do my best to incorporate it into the session.  Things that are sold in retail stores as being newborn sized, or 0-3 months, will just be too big.  I keep quite a few props in my studio, and am constantly updating them so that I have plenty of options for your session.  I have several vendors that I use regularly.

How do I book my session

Well I’m SO glad you asked:)  To book your session simply click here to email me, or click here to call me.  You can also click here to get to the ” contact me” of my website and fill out a contact form.  I usually start booking 3-4 months in advance and only photograph newborns M-F. Also, keep in mind I have 4 kids of my own, and am working around helping out at their school, so booking early is always a great idea!

I would love to photograph your newborn session soon!  I hope to hear from you today.
