Avery and Caroline | Atlanta Twin Photographer

As an Atlanta Twin Photographer, I’ve photographed close to 8 sets of twins this year, but Avery and Caroline are the first identical twins I have had the chance to photograph.  These sweet babies spent a few weeks in the NICU, and were 7 weeks old when they came to see me for their newborn session.  As much as I love to try to do newborn sessions in the first 14 days, I will never tell a client that their baby is too old.  I prefer to manage the expectation that while an older baby may not be as flexible, or may not do the same poses, I will still photograph your baby, and get beautiful photos of them for you.

I’ve said before, I LOVE twins.  I used to be more nervous to do twins.  Who wouldn’t be?!  It’s two babies, possibly two CRYING babies.  This year, I feel like I’ve found my way with twins and truly enjoy photographing them.  Most twins are honestly very easy for newborn sessions.  Since they are used to sharing a small space with someone else, they are very rarely touchy when I move them, or mess with them when they’re asleep. I also feel like I have a great flow for  my Atlanta Twin Photographer sessions.  I typically begin with both babies wrapped, and then I remove 1 baby, and go through my work flow.  The only real difference is that instead of moving from one pose or set up to another, I set things up, photograph one baby, add the other baby, remove first baby, photograph second, and repeat.

I’m so behind on blogging my sessions, that these beautiful girls are just about to come see me for their sitter session.   I try to keep up on it…but life happens!

How to Prepare for Your Twin Session

I LOVE buying props..it’s an addiction.  So, when you book me for your twin photography session, just know that I already have everything you need. I have bought two of some things, and I have coordinating things so that I don’t have matching twins all the time. I have plenty of swaddles, headbands, rompers, pants, outfits, pillows, and backdrops.  You name it, I have it.  I stock my studio with diapers, wipes, and even snacks for parents and siblings.  All you need to do or bring is food for your babies, and pacifiers..but honestly, I even keep pacifiers here.

Ideally, the more notice you can give me for scheduling a newborn session the better.  That said, I try not to over book myself because due dates are unpredictable and life happens!   I currently do all of my newborn sessions during my youngest sons preschool time, Monday-Friday.  Sessions begin at 9:30 and end by 12:45.  This is usually more than enough time.
