When I do Atlanta family photos, I get to meet so many fun families. This family is no exception. Isn’t this family just adorable? And all those blue eyes…I died! I met them through church, and got to do their fall pictures this year. The kids were so sweet and well behaved, and it was so fun to get to know their parents better while we explored the location where we were doing their session. When I do my own kids photos, it’s a total nightmare, so it gives me hope to see kids that are pleasant and agreeable…maybe that will be me one day!
What to wear
This family totally nailed photo session wardrobes and coloring! When I do my own family pictures with my kids, I agonize over what to put them in. When people ask me, I generally say to pick a “rock star” and then coordinate everyone else around that person. So if mom, or little sister has something that definitely is the picture outfit, pick that, and then coordinate everyone else to work around that one outfit. Another suggestion for clothing is to pick things that are neutral. You can never go wrong with neutral colors in photographs.
What to expect for your session
As an Atlanta family photographer, I get lots of questions about what a photo session looks like. A typical family session will last about an hour. With older kids, we may not need that long, and with very young kids, we may not get that long! I try to get as many great options as fast as I can before kiddos lose interest. I will have kids help me pick the next photo spot, and let them have “run around” breaks….whatever it takes! I have 4 kids of my own, ages 2, 4, 6 and 8, so I totally understand and sympathize with how hard it is to get the entire family on board with family photos!
