Atlanta Family Photographer
I know what you’re thinking…that just about every other Atlanta Family Photographer post I write is about a birthday in my house. You’d be right to think that, because every time I recover from one child’s birthday, the next one is coming for me! This time, it’s all about Landrie.
Daughters…
Landrie is my third child, my ONLY daughter, and probably everything my mother ever wished on me for all the spunk and sass I threw her way, and then some. From day one, this sweet girl has had to keep up with her big brothers. Kellam is 26 months older than her. Zaden is 3.5 years older. I had always said, that I thought I was a better boy mom than a girl mom. God must have known I would sure enjoy having just one daughter. I adore all of my kids, and I so enjoy all the boy things. But I must admit, having a girl to take with me to get a pedicure, who likes to shop for clothes, and who I can go see the Nutcracker with this winter is just the best. She can hang with the boys, no problem, but loves all things girly and baby dolls as well.
Birthday…
Landrie Ada Rogers came into our lives on August 1, 2011 weighing in at 8 lbs 3 oz. She was my biggest baby of all 4 kids, and also had the most hair! I don’t remember how we started calling her Miss Lou, but ever since she was a baby, we have. Even now, we call her Miss Lou, Landrie Lou, Landrie Ada Lou…you get the idea. Landrie’s baby cousin Eli calls her “Lou”. So cute!
Landrie was always a very laid back baby, and has always been my best little photography model.
Her first 4 years, we lived in Virginia. It’s hard to believe we’ve lived in Georgia nearly half of her life!
Landrie has always said she wanted to be a “katographer” when she grows up. See the image below for translataion…she wants to be and Atlanta family photographer, like her Mommy!
Nurturing and Fearless…
This kid has no fear. When she was 3 years old, she started taking horse back riding lessons because she watched her big brothers take them. She was never afraid to hop onto Phoenix for her lessons. Such a brave girl!
Just like her Mama, Landrie has ALWAYS loved babies. When I was pregnant with Avett, we used to lay in her bed at night and talk about how she was going to help me with him. Landrie was going to help me give him baths, change his diaper, feed him. She has been the best big sister that a kid could ever hope for. This girl takes such great care of her little brother, her friends younger siblings, and even her baby dolls!
Photography Assistant
As an Atlanta family photographer, often, when I’m setting up my studio for a session, Landrie will ask me if I need help. She loves to help pick out the outfits for the babies. She loves all things babies. Anytime I need to practice studio lighting, she is ready and willing with one of her “children” to pose for pictures.
A close second (maybe even better honestly) to a baby in your own home is a baby cousin. She LOVES Eli.
Typical to her personality, she is usually the first one willing to smile for a quick session with me. Her brothers HATE when I get out my camera but Landrie is usually super eager to pose!
Loving on babies again with her sweet friend at Babyland General Hospital.
First Day of Kindergarten
I have never worried about Landrie at school. She is quick to make friends, eager to please her teacher, and smart as a whip. This kid looks forward to school like her brothers never did before. She loves riding the bus because she gets to see her friends extra, and her favorite special at school is Art.
I love her sense of adventure. We’ve traveled to some new places this year, and Landrie is quick to follow her big brothers around exploring all the new places. She is often one of our most adaptable kids.
This fall, our sweet Tucker passed away. All of our kids were devastated. Landrie had such a hard time with being sad about Tucker and loved reading a book about dog heaven over and over again. Shortly after Tucker passed, we welcomed Nova into our family. Brett and I were a little leary to get a new dog so soon after Tucker died, but a sweet puppy was just what we all needed. Landrie followed Nova around all the time hoping to get to hold her for a few minutes.
Winter brought us a toothless smile!
Anytime a child in this house falls asleep, I grab my camera and take a few pictures. I just can’t resist a sleeping big kid.
A year or so ago, we started a tradition with Landrie and her Daddy for a Daddy/Daughter date near Valentine’s Day. She was SO excited for her date. She picked the restaurant, picked a new dress to wear, had me curl her hair and asked to wear makeup. She’s turning into such a beautiful young lady inside and out.
Landrie loves everyone, and loves hugs, but I’d have to say she’s a Mama’s girl at heart. She keeps looking at her own hair and telling me it’s starting to get curly:) She is amazing at everything she does. This year, the kids all did swim team, and Landrie got MVP for her age group. Landrie has been taking gymnastics for a few years, and is now in the higher level gymnast class…this kid flips, walk-overs, and kartwheels her way across our house every single day. She is kind, smart, silly, sassy, a good friend, a good sister, and a force to be reckoned with. She loves animals, babies, art, her family. Landrie has the best giggle that I have ever heard. I am so glad that we are blessed enough to call her our daughter and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for this one. Happy 7th Birthday sweet girl!
I hate to tell her but I don’t think her hair will ever be curly like yours. She got her Grandmother’s hair instead of her aunt’s. GG
I love this! Landrieis one special little lady!!! Happy 7th Birthday sweet girl!
