Newborn Photographer Atlanta
William is one of the sweetest babies I have met recently as a Newborn Photographer Atlanta. He was so calm, and barely fussed at all. Big sister came for the beginning of the session. We did a few pictures with him before her Daddy and Grandma took her to the zoo. When older siblings come along for a newborn session, the best situation is for them to be there for the start of the session. Then they can go somewhere to do something fun until the session is over. Generally the part of the session that older siblings are involved in lasts around 30 minutes. The remainder of the session is posing the baby.
During a newborn session, I have several techniques to encourage the baby to sleep. One of them is the temperature I keep my studio. It is nice and warm, so that a new baby, that is used to being inside mom’s tummy, isn’t chilled during the session. Another is the noise. I have a variety of sound machines that I use during newborn session, as well as keeping the area quiet and generally calm.
How to prepare for your newborn session
Often, parents ask me how they can prepare for their session. Do they need to bring props, clothes? I have EVERYTHING you need for your session in my studio. I have a number of wraps for swaddling, hats and headbands, pants, rompers, you name it! I’m also happy to help you search for the perfect items to add your own special touch to your newborn session. It’s very important when selecting items for your session, to make sure they are properly sized. I work with a number of vendors that have a great deal of experience in newborn items. Other than that, the only thing I ask parents to bring along with them for newborn sessions is a pacifier, and food for baby.
What to expect at your newborn session
As a newborn photographer Atlanta, I try to prepare new parents for what their session will be like. Your session will most likely begin in the morning, and last about 2-3 hours. How long your session lasts depends on how sleepy your baby is. Other factors weigh in as well, like if baby needs to break for food. I always send new clients a parent prep letter, with a few helpful tips and tricks to (hopefully) arriving with a sleepy and well fed baby. Things don’t always go as planned, so I allow for extra time just in case we need it. I am fine with parents being in the studio area for the session, but often, baby can smell mama. If baby is having a hard time settling, I will ask moms to wait in the area right outside my studio space. There is a sofa, and a television, and baby and I are just on the other side of the door.
