Newborn Photographer Atlanta

This year, as a Newborn Photographer Atlanta, one of my goals was to do a couple of sets of twins so that I could practice.  I have shot 6 sets of twins so far this year.  Last year, twins intimidated me.  Two babies..getting two babies to sleep, taking feeding and changing breaks for two babies..YIKES!  For the longest time, I was too afraid to really try it.  This year, I decided I wanted to be able to handle twins without issue.  It has been so much fun to practice on so many multiples.  I’m actually finding, that often, multiples are easier than single birth babies because they are so used to being touched.

The first few times I attempted twins, I had an assistant here helping me.  Then I got brave, and decided to see if I could manage it by myself, and it was totally fine.  I actually have started LOVING shooting multiples.  Of the 6 sets of newborn twins I have shot this year, I’ve had 3 sets of girls, 2 sets of boys, and one set of boy/girl twins. Of the twins that were boys, both were fraternal.  With the girls, 2 were fraternal, and 1 set was identical.  Twins are so interesting to me.  Often, twins are soothed by being next to each other.  I love watching during my sessions to see if they seem to want to be together, or not to notice.

When to schedule your session

As soon as you decide you’d like to book me for your newborn photographer Atlanta, you can contact me here to schedule your session.   Typically, newborn sessions are scheduled during the 2nd or early 3rd trimesters of pregnancy.  I usually only take 1-2 newborn sessions in a week, so I am very careful to track my due dates and not over book myself.  Once I have your due date on my calendar, you simply let me know when you’ve either delivered the babies, or have a scheduled c-section or induction date.  We will schedule your newborn session for within 1-3 weeks of delivery.  My true preference, is closer to the 1-2 week old mark, but I totally understand that with births, things often don’t go as planned and mom or babies need a few extra days to settle into a routine.

Inside a session, from start to finish

My newborn sessions usually last between 2-3 hours.  Here’s what this looks like! When you arrive with baby, I will have asked you to feed baby prior to leaving to get to my studio.  Hopefully this times out with being about 30-40 minutes prior to getting to me, and baby will be nice and sleepy after the car ride over.  If we are doing parent/sibling shots, I like to start with those.  After that, I focus on just baby.  When babies sleep from start to finish, the sessions are closer to 2 hours.  Often, baby needs to take a food break, or just needs a few extra minutes in between set ups to settle down and that is completely fine!  I schedule newborns from 9:30-12:45 on weekdays, and have plenty of time built into the session to allow for food and snuggle breaks.

When you arrive, you will notice that my studio is very warm!  This is because your baby has been used to being inside a warm body and I want baby to be nice and comfortable.  Often I shoot babies without clothes on, or with just pants or a small romper. If at any point in the session I feel that baby is too hot, I will adjust the temperature accordingly.

Once your newborn baby has rocked their session, I try to get you a sneak preview that day, or the next day. This is usually 1-2 pictures, just so you can see how amazing your little one did.  From there, it takes me 2-3 weeks to edit the remainder of the images.  I then send you a link with your beautiful photos.  Pretty easy!

I would love to be your newborn photographer!  Call me today to schedule your newborn photographer Atlanta session!
