Marietta Family Photographer

As a Marietta Family Photographer, one of the types of sessions I usually offer each year are mini sessions.  This adorable family was one of my mini session families from this year.  Mini sessions are exhausting, but so much fun!  I use a lot of energy for mini sessions.  Since they’re pretty quick, I usually try to get kids laughing and playing right from the start.  With mini sessions, the locations are usually locations that I don’t need to walk around much at all.  I can get everything I need in one small area, which allows me to fully focus on nothing but getting great shots of your loved ones for your time slot.

Differences between mini sessions and full sessions

There are a few differences between mini sessions and full sessions. Aside from the cost, mini sessions are significantly shorter.  My full sessions are 1 hour long.  Mini sessions are around 15 minutes. Full session clients also receive between 15-20 different photos from their session, as well as the choice of time for the date of their session.  Mini session clients receive around 5-8 photos from their session.  I usually only offer mini sessions on a couple of dates each year, and they book up fast.

How to know if mini sessions are right for you

As a Marietta Family Photographer, part of my job is helping my clients decide which session is right for them.  Young children can often be shy.  If your child or children are shy, or need some time to warm up to new people, 15 minutes may not be enough for you.  If you’ve got pretty easy going and stranger friendly children, a mini session may be just what you’re looking for.  I usually only offer mini sessions to my repeat clients. Be sure to “like” my facebook page so that you will get a heads up when I do offer mini sessions if you happen not to be a previous client!  If I have a last minute opening, I often try to fill it first there.  If you have any questions about what mini sessions look like vs full sessions, or which session is right for you, feel free to email me at lindsley@appleseedphotography.com

How to Prepare for your Session

Whether you book a mini or a full session, here are a few tips I suggest.  If you have kids that nap, try to book your session at a time when they’ll be awake, alert, and happy.  Please don’t let your children eat on the way to their photos.  I know my own kids love to spill food on themselves.  It’s no big deal most days, but on picture day, it wouldn’t be great! Finally, please leave the arranging, and getting kids to smile to me.  Please know that I try my very best to keep my sessions fun and easy going.  Nothing makes kids more uptight than parents that are yelling at them to behave and smile.  I have 4 kids of my own, and am pretty seasoned at crowd amusement and control! Leave that up to me, and just sit back, and enjoy your family!
