Atlanta Newborn Photographer

As an Atlanta newborn photographer, I am often meeting Atlanta’s cutest and newest residents.  I first met Elise’s sweet family for her mama’s maternity session. Her brother rocked it then, and he was just as agreeable for her newborn session.

This session was right after Christmas, and since Elise made her entry into the world just in time for Christmas, we did a few Christmas set ups as a part of her session.  I love styling my newborn sessions and have so much fun putting together wraps, headbands, outfits, and backdrops that I will use for a session.  If you have color schemes that you prefer, please let me know.  Around 99% of what I have is neutrals.  I love color pops in the form of headbands, or cute sleeper hats, but otherwise, my heart belongs to neutrals.

How I got started as an Atlanta Newborn Photographer

When my oldest son, who is about to turn 10, was a baby, I got my first DSLR camera. Of course, I didn’t just get a camera and start charging right away.  I searched online, joined a variety of websites, and took a few online classes in an effort to teach myself everything I could about photography.  I got my 2nd DSLR camera about 2 years later, and kept learning more and more.  My next camera is the one I currently have.  Once I got this camera, it’s a Canon 5D Mark III, I promised myself I’d learn to use my camera in manual mode.

I initially started photographing families and babies, but not as much newborns. It wasn’t until about 3 years ago that I decided to make my focus newborns.  I went to a workshop in Oklahoma and learned hands on newborn posing.  At this point, I completely love what I do.  I have a part time business, and am still a full time mom.  Truly the best of both worlds.

What does a newborn session look like

During the school year, I offer Atlanta newborn photographer sessions Mondays-Fridays from 9:30-12:45.  When school is out, I have more flexibility on times, but still only shoot newborn sessions Mondays-Fridays.  Newborn sessions can last anywhere from 1.5 hours to 3 hours.  There are so many variables at play here.  If baby arrives sleepy and with a full belly, they tend to do better.  Some babies need to break more frequently for food than others, which can slow a session down.  Some babies sleep through everything, while others startle with the slightest touch.

As a trained newborn photographer, I make sure I pick up on baby’s cues, and follow their lead.  If a certain position isn’t working, we move on.  When baby seems to need a food break, we stop and take one.  In addition to being a newborn photographer, I am also a mom to 4 kids.  I totally understand that this is a tiring and stressful time, and want to make sure things go as smoothly as possible.

If you’re having family and sibling pictures done along with your session, we will do that in the first half hour of the session.  That way, siblings and dad can either relax, or go somewhere and do something fun for the remainder of the session. After the session is finished, I will edit the photos and email you a link with your edited images. Each session will receive between 15-20 digital images.  I do also offer print services, and would love for my clients to use them so that their beautiful images are printed.

How and when to book your session

Booking a newborn session with me is super easy! Simply click here to fill out my contact form.  My email is lindsley@appleseedphotography.com if you prefer to email, or you can call me at 678-653-1421.

Since I tend to book 4+ weeks in advance, it’s best to book your newborn session as much ahead of time as you can.  Once your session is booked, I  pencil your due date onto my calendar.  After baby arrives , just let me know, and we will schedule your session for sometime within the first 7-21 days.  My favorite time to do newborn photos is the first 7-14 days, but there is some flexibility with babies and recovering mamas.
