Newborn Photographer Atlanta
As a Newborn Photographer Atlanta, taking photos of families as they grow is my biggest pleasure. Sweet Alice has two older sisters and a brother, and I had the great pleasure to take her sister’s six-month and one-year photos. You can see those here.
Alice’s mom and I are friends. Photographing my friends’ kids is always fun, because I see the kids often enough that sometimes it’s not until I look at their pictures that I realize how much they’re growing.
Look at those beautiful faces! It’s clear they adore their baby sister.
What kind of props does a newborn photography session use?
Atlanta newborn photography sessions are so much fun! We use a ton of unique props. As you look through these pictures, you can see some examples.
I like to keep things organic and authentic to what feels right with each baby. Options include things like beanbags, bowls, beds, and swaddles. If you’ve seen a particular photo you’d like to try to capture, we can do that.
Even newborns have a personality, and I love to use props and clothing that captures their personality.
How do we keep the baby asleep during the session?
The great thing about a newborn photography Atlanta session is that most newborns are pretty sleepy anyway. You’ve likely already noticed that newborns sleep most of the time.
But most newborns get to sleep undisturbed. During our session, we will be bending and moving them, taking their clothes on and off, and other things that might disrupt their sleep.
To keep them asleep during the session, I recommend that parents keep baby up for an hour or two right before the session. This ensures that your little one will be sleepy enough to stay asleep even through all the clothing and pose changes.
Isn’t that little newborn smile just the most precious thing you’ve ever seen?
When is the best time to take newborn photos?
Ideally, you should schedule your appointment with your Atlanta newborn photographer within the first two weeks after baby is born. This is when newborns are the most flexible and sleepy.
However, I am very skilled at getting babies to sleep and putting them in adorable poses up to a month old. So if you’re at the end of that first two-week window, don’t despair. Just contact me today to get your appointment scheduled!
Can we take pictures of the rest of the family too?
Absolutely! While it may be a newborn photographer Atlanta session, the point is to capture some great memories. We can do some whole family shots, as well as parent and newborn, and siblings and newborn shots, too. Obviously, the newborn alone will be the majority of the focus, but we definitely want to include the rest of your family to ensure that when you look back on these photos later, they bring a smile to your face.
If you want to take photos that include other members of the family, we’ll typically take those first. This allows the rest of the family to leave and find something to entertain themselves while the studio is quiet for the rest of the newborn session.
